A person of interest in the Mississippi Delta Community College arson incident, which took place on Dec. 14, is being held at the Sunflower County Jail.
Timothy Jones, an Indianola resident and business owner, is the person in custody, according to MDCC Vice President of Communications Reed Abraham.
Jones is the owner of TJ’s Photography, a studio located at 224 West U.S. 82 in Indianola. Jones is also a frequent freelance photographer with The Enterprise-Tocsin.
Abraham said that MDCC campus police, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s office all partnered with the investigation, which is ongoing.
The Enterprise-Tocsin was present during the Friday arrest in Indianola, but out of respect for the homeowner, we have chosen not to identify the residence where the arrest to place, at this time.
The E-T witnessed law enforcement agencies serve multiple warrants on Friday, one at Jones’ Augusta Street residence and the other at his place of business.
Formal charges related to the arson incident had not been filed as of Saturday afternoon.
Abraham said MDCC will be releasing a formal statement in the near future.
We will have more details on the arrest and the overall case in this week’s edition of The Enterprise-Tocsin.
