NSA saying goodbye to two coaches

North Sunflower Academy coaches Michael Ward and John Costilow will be leaving the Rebel athletic program this summer to pursue jobs in the public school arena. NSA recently held a reception for the two, who will leave a void at the school. Ward is an NSA alum, and Costilow has been with the school for about a decade.

The B.B. King Homecoming Blues Festival is returning to Fletcher Park in 2018, and tickets are still available for the June 2 lineup.

Tito Jackson and former members of the B.B. King Blues Band will headline this year’s festivities with two Saturday performances.

City says “Concerned Citizens” group can’t meet in public building

After a lengthy debate, the Indianola Board of Aldermen voted 3 to 2 against allowing use of a city-owned building to the Concerned Citizens Committee to conduct its regular monthly meetings.
Alderman Marvin Elder made the motion to allow.
“Let’s not hold them up,” he said. Alderman Ruben Woods seconded and they both voted yes.
