Sunflower Police Chief Louis Baymon is requesting the public’s help in locating Jerome Steadman 31, whose last known address was Apartment D-5, Pine Lane Apartments, Penny Circle, Sunflower.

According to Baymon, Steadman is wanted in connection with two domestic violence charges levied on August 6, 2017 and November 22, 2017.

Brandon Cummins has lived the life most young baseball players dream about when they go to sleep at night.

The Drew native and former Delta State Statesmen worked his way onto an independent league roster and then onto the Chicago Cubs Single-A affiliate South Bend’s team a year ago.


City says “Concerned Citizens” group can’t meet in public building


After a lengthy debate, the Indianola Board of Aldermen voted 3 to 2 against allowing use of a city-owned building to the Concerned Citizens Committee to conduct its regular monthly meetings.
Alderman Marvin Elder made the motion to allow.
“Let’s not hold them up,” he said. Alderman Ruben Woods seconded and they both voted yes.


Annie Williams

Services for Annie Williams of Indianola will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ms. Williams, 69, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Byas Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Gardens.

William Rudolph “Bill” Sumrall

William Rudolph “Bill” Sumrall, 88, of Indianola, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at his home.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Ray Funeral Home of Cleveland. Celebration of Life services immediately followed with Rev. Greg Chamblee officiating. Interment was in Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Extra Table executive director speaks to Rotary Club


Over a quarter of a million Mississippi children have been designated as “food insecure.”

According to statistics given by Extra Table, a Hattiesburg non-profit that is providing healthy and nutritious food to food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the state, nearly 23 percent of all Mississippians are labeled “food insecure.”

Services for David “Chico” Lloyd of Moorhead were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity House of Prayer in Moorhead.
Mr. Lloyd, 47, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at Merit Health Central in Jackson.
Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home of Indianola, which was in charge of arrangements.
