Hoping to pick up another District 1AAA victory tonight, the now 9-9, 2-2 Indianola Academy Lady Colonels will have to travel to North Delta School in Batesville to earn it.
In the midst of a six game run of road trips, the Lady Colonels will then travel to Pillow Academy in Greenwood on Friday for a non-district meeting.
After opening the 2018 portion of their schedule with a Tuesday night 49-28 District 1AAA victory over visiting Bayou Academy of Cleveland, the 9-2, 2-0 Colonels basketball schedule resumes with a rare non-tournament Saturday contest.
It was a strong way to begin a new calendar year.
Rebounding from the three tournament losses suffered last week, the now 7-8, 2-0 Indianola Academy Lady Colonels basketball team also kept their District 1AAA record spotless Tuesday night with a 42-39 home-court victory over Bayou Academy of Cleveland.
Another all-important Region 3-4A portion of their schedule is up next for the 9-7, 2-0 Gentry High Lady Rams basketball team.
After completing the 2017 calendar year with a big tournament championship, the now 15-2, 2-0 Gentry High Rams begin 2018 with a three game string of Region 3-4A contests.
Riding a six game win streak, the Rams also own the most wins in the state among 4A schools and are ranked No. 4 in their classification.
With Christmas Day now past, there is a full slate of Indianola Academy basketball action wrapping itself around New Year’s Day.
That action begins today and runs through next Tuesday beginning with the 6-1, 1-0 Colonels and the 6-5, 1-0 Lady Colonels opening their participation in the Kirk Academy Tournament in Grenada.
Challenging basketball will be in ample supply for the Gentry High squads this week as they play their final games of the 2017 calendar year.
For today, both the 12-2, 2-0 Rams and the 8-6, 2-0 Lady Rams begin their participation in the Hattiesburg Coca-Cola Christmas Tournament.
