Phabian Woodard, a Gentry High School senior, competed in the Max Emfinger’s All American Bowl Game in Metairie, La., Saturday and received plenty of support from his family.
Now riding a five-game winning streak, the 9-1, 4-0 Indianola Academy Colonels carried this momentum not only into Wednesday’s final Kirk Academy Tournament game against Heritage Academy of Columbus, but will hopefully carry it into the new calendar year as well.
Closing out the 2015 calendar year with three games played in the Kirk Academy Tournament in Grenada, the 4-15, 3-1 Indianola Academy Lady Colonels lost their first two games of the tournament, which were played Monday and Tuesday evening.
About 200 family, friends and classmates were on hand Saturday night to honor the 2015 inductees of the Mississippi Delta Community College Sports Hall of Fame during their induction ceremony and banquet.

On Tuesday, the Lamar County School District’s board unanimously approved for a new privately-funded volleyball facility to be built at Oak Grove High School. The $1-million project will be donated to the district upon completion.
