CHARLIE SMITH, editor/publisher
As editor, Charlie is in charge of the paper’s news content. He designs and lays out the pages, edits stories, writes and takes photographs. As publisher, he is responsible for the E-T’s business operations, including overseeing the staff, advertising and circulation.
A Tennessee native, he moved to Mississippi after graduating from the University of Tennessee in 2007 to work at the Greenwood Commonwealth. After five years as a staff writer and then news editor there, he became editor and publisher at the Enterprise-Tocsin in September 2012. He won the 2013 Bill Minor General News Reporting Award from the Mississippi Press Association for the best overall general news story in the state among all circulation classes.
MARY HOWARD GARY, advertising manager
Mary Howard Gary leads the newspaper’s advertising efforts, working with customers to promote their business through advertising. The Inverness native began working at the E-T in November 2015.
ALAN CREWS, graphic designer
Alan designs ads and news graphics, as well as serving as the classifieds ads sales rep and handling legal notices. He is a Cleveland, Miss., native and began working at the Enterprise-Tocsin after graduating from Delta State University with a degree in graphic design in May 2013.
DEBBIE BETHEL, bookkeeper
Debbie keeps the E-T’s books, working with accounts payable and receivable and financial reporting. She also serves as circulation manager. Debbie is a Leland native and has worked in the hotel and restaurant industries, among others, before joining the E-T staff in 2015.
RECARDO THOMAS, staff reporter
Recardo Thomas is the E-T's staff reporter, covering a wide range of stories from local government to features. An Indianola native, he holds degrees from Mississippi Delta Community College and Mississippi Valley State University and previously worked as the operations manager for the WNLA radio station in Indianola from 1999 through 2015. He joined the E-T staff in November 2015.
