With their regular season winding down and playoffs looming on the horizon, the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels have recently been dodging rain while their schedule has them hosting Carroll Academy at 6:30 p.m. next Monday in a final non-district contest.
The rain held off on Monday night just long enough for the Indianola Academy softball team to take down Kirk Academy in Grenada. The Lady Colonels won the game 11-1. With that win, the girls improve to a 14-1; 4-1 regular season record.
With little time to reflect on last week’s 22-6 loss to rival Gentry High School, the Ruleville Central High Tigers have turned their attention to this week’s opposition, the O’Bannon High Green Wave of Greenville.
They just keep rolling along. After using a punishing defense as well as an offense which featured timely big plays, the Indianola Academy Colonels improved their record to a 3-0 mark last Friday with a not-as-close-as-it-sounds 35-21 victory over visiting Starkville Academy.
Playing their third consecutive game against an out-of-state team, the North Sunflower Academy Rebels will put their 2-0 record on the line this Friday night when they travel to Marvell (Ark.) Academy.
The Gentry High Rams are going from playing their big rivalry game to playing their most challenging game of the season to date. After improving their record to 2-1 following last Friday’s 22-6 road victory over cross-county rival Ruleville Central, the Rams will welcome the highly ranked North Panola Cougars of Sardis to town.
After splitting their pair of games this past week, the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels softball team was scheduled to play at Lee Academy in Clarksdale Wednesday night with hopes of picking up another District 1AAA victory.
After picking up a pair of soccer victories this past week, the now 5-2.; 3-0 Indianola Academy Lady Colonels travel to Grenada today for a 3 p.m. contest against Kirk Academy. Soccer action then continues for IA Head Coach Ron Schlatter’s squad next Wednesday with a 4 p.m. home game versus Pillow Academy of Greenwood.
